Profile

Anire, a Notary Public, is a Partner at the Firm. His expertise spans the disparate yet connected fields of litigation and transactional work and has over 20 years’ experience in insolvency and receivership, conveyancing, company secretarial practice, banking, capital markets, M&A, energy and natural resources, privatization, compensation claims, foreign investment, intellectual property, tax and immigration matters, and dispute resolution.

He was recently appointed as AMCON’s Receiver to recover a total sum of N5Billion from a debtor company. He also led the team that advised AMCON for the divestment of AMCON’s 100% shareholding in one of the bridge banks and also the divestment of AMCON’s shareholding in Consolidated Discounts Limited.
Anire is a member of Nigerian Bar Association, the Law Society (UK) and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK).

Other Key Assignments:
 Anire reviewed and co-ordinated the activities of various teams in 1991, 1993 and 1994, that carried out legal audits in the litigation and credit risk management divisions of various financial institutions including Citibank Nigeria, Ecobank Nigeria Plc., and United Bank for Africa Plc
 A key member of the team that handled the restructuring of UAC of Nigeria Plc in 1994, involving a scheme of arrangement in which 21% of UAC of Nigeria Plc’s equity, beneficially held by Unilever Plc was cancelled in consideration for 40% of the equity of Tractor & Equipment Limited and the assets and liabilities of A. J. Seward, a division of UACN, being transferred to Unilever Plc.
 A key member of a group of advisers that provided advice to Rolls Royce Power Ventures Limited in connection with a captive power plant it was establishing to supply power to the West African Portland Company’s cement plant at Ewekoro, Nigeria.
 A key member of the team that handled the Rights Issue of 222,750,000 shares of Empee Industries Plc.
 A key member of the team that drove a USAID funded project in devising a road map to guide investors – both local and foreign – who wish to invest in Nigeria.
 One of the leaders of the team that handled the merger between Nichemtex Industries Plc and United Nigerian Textiles Plc under a Scheme of Merger.
 A key member of a team of consultants that advised one of the State Governments on the privatisation of a state-owned enterprise.
 Mr. Kanyi was a key member of a team, in collaboration with the World Bank that organised the All African Conference on Law, Justice and Development in 2002.
